Abstract

The United Nations is an international organization, made up of its member states, and founded in 1945 as a replacement for the League of Nations after World War II. The purposes of the UN include maintaining international peace and security and achieving international cooperation in solving international problems of political, economic, social, cultural, human rights, and humanitarian issues. The United Nations (UN) has been involved in crisis management in a comprehensive range of fields and at multiple stages in disaster responses through its principal organizations and subsidiary entities including programs, funds, commissions, and specialized agencies.
