Abstract

The previous chapter highlighted the “why” of the occupational therapy practitioner’s planning process during intervention. Equally important, the practitioner must also be mindful of “how” to implement this plan. This chapter will focus on “how” the practitioner implements the intervention plan. This involves strategizing how to engage people to facilitate their process of change or growth. These psychomotor actions involve factors such as incorporating suitable intervention methods, utilizing relevant teaching-learning principles and upgrading and downgrading activities based on the person’s status. As previously stated, the why and how of intervention planning occur simultaneously, but for learning purposes are presented separately in this book.
