Stimulated Raman and Brillouin scattering in nonlinear periodic structures

Abstract

We show that stimulated Raman scattering can lead to Raman-shifted gap solitons while stimulated Brillouin scattering can occur at reduced thresholds in a nonlinear periodic structure.
